“From the guitar tremolo-like bridge pickup tones that sound almost like pecking, semi-goofed up birds on “Lock Horns” to the tight beat programming of “Battling Maxo” (and many others) and the echo-laden almost surf guitar and jazz samples of “Farouche”, this record delves into a very tasteful and engaging palette of aural colors. “As I Remember You” has some very soothing, lilting guitar tones with a sweet, laid-back island kind of feel; the drums barely appear, just barely pushing the tune along until it gradually decrescendoes in sonic scope. The chords and melodies are equally intriguing. The majority of the album has a very eerie, uneasy feel, utilizing odd minor chord progressions that creep around corners in darkenss and bend the perception of what is normal.”
